However, Shaughnessy this morning decided to rant about how he no longer has access to any of the Celtics players anymore. Well… I don’t know Dan why wouldn’t you? You were referred to as the “CHB” for a reason by Carl Everett. Players don’t want to talk to you Dan because you always look for the negative. For every 10 columns you write: eight are going to be negative, one is going to be about some non-sports related item, and the final one is probably just going to be a promotion of yourself. Fans are tired of this, and I imagine players are even more fed up.

In this day and age, players are starting to figure out that you probably shouldn’t waste your time talking to a 5’9″ white dude with red hair in the locker room. They have publicists now, with good reason (ask Terrell Owens). Most athletes are not Harvard Grads, but they do realize that we now live in a 24-hour media maelstrom. Driven by consumerism, people like Jon Tomase will print anything just to make a name for himself and possibly a few bucks. Thankfully that blew up in his face. Kevin Garnett, is a smart well spoken individual (laced with a little crazy intensity) and he knows better to talk to the media unfiltered in a sports town like Boston. Good for him, I’m glad he is able to maintain some sense of dignity that hasn’t always been easy to maintain in a city like Boston.

Glad we have homecourt back now. Yeah I said we. Cause clearly 5’8″ guys from Maine, have a direct impact on the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

Karen Allen has not aged well. She is Mark Hamill of the Indy Trilogy. Although Kate Capshaw only got the part in Temple o’ Doom because she was having relations with Spielberg (go Hollywood). Anyway, I just saw Crystal Skull…and wow. Ford is great…he just can’t do much with a confusing and at times just damn annoying script. Plus why the hell does Cate Blanchett have a sword? I can live with Indy surviving a nuclear explosion…but god damn it use a fucking gun Cate. Don’t you know how Jones operates..ask the sword dude in Raiders…oh wait he’s dead. Anyway, Lucas has his grubby hands all over this expository bs. Saucerman…come on.

Plus the greatest travesty of all…No John Rhys Davies. It’s not like he is that hard to get I think I have seen him in about 17 different Sci Fi channel movies over the years. The dude is worse then Walken when it comes to working…he will be in anything. However, between Indy and LOTR…I am convinced the dude is a trilogy master…christ, he was probably Ackbar in ROTJ.

Anyways, go see the movie if you want…fully realize though that the magic is gone. Also fuck you Shia. I like you…but your damn comb bs and “monkeying around” just plain sucked.

I am wondering what kind of form this blog will take as time goes on…I have a variety of different interests. I like ellipses. Stream of Conciousness writing. And sharks. Then again I think everyone loves Sharks…or at least Mike Birbiglia.

This memorial day weekend…I decided to stay in the city. I made a concious decision to not go back to Maine (where I grew up), and experience Boston without some of the people. One problem with this theory: I completely forgot about tourists.

Tourists are an interesting breed of people, we have all been one at one point or another…but I for one absolutely hate being one. I go out of my way to try and pretend to know exactly what I am doing no matter where I am. (I suppose I would probably have a harder time of this outside the United States). I grew up with tourists invading my town like locusts every summer…I think it went from about 10,000 people to 50,000. So I definitely have a slight disdain for people flocking to a place I deem ordinary. Why I somehow underestimated the amount of people who would be downtown today…well it borders on stupidity. But it beats sitting in my windowless apartment… However, the T-ride in should have been a signal for me to go home.

If you haven’t had the chance…travel the B-line in Boston and listen to some of the uncannily vapid conversations of BU freshman. Now, I am sure this does not apply to all of them…but god damn. They talk about some ridiculously mundane shit. This is non-gender specific…I overheard a guy talking about product, for a solid 20 minutes with a friend of his. Personally, I like silence on the T. But that is just my car upbringing.  Actually, when I first came to Boston 6 months ago I thought the T was the greatest piece of engineering ever conceived. Now I just view it as a failure of union construction. (Sidenote: Love you guys, don’t kill me!)

Anyway, the main reason for this whole entry is that I almost got run-down by a duckboat. Like Spielberg and the latest Indiana Jones Movie…I don’t do well with endings. Peace.
